18th Annual Rainbow Days Picnic
Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Rainbow Park - Fifth Street
The 18th annual “Rainbow Days” Picnic will be held Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rainbow Park. The event is sponsored by RPOA with the cooperation and participation of every civic organization in the community.
A full BBQ lunch will be served for $4. Raffles, offering a variety of items from local businesses, will be held every 30 minutes. The grand raffle, featuring a $100 bill, sponsored by Rainbow Realty, will be held at 1:30 p.m. The winner must be present to win. Games for children of all ages, including the three-legged race and the balloon toss, will be held throughout the day. The election of RPOA board members will be held at the event. Election results will be announced at 1 p.m. The second annual Vallecitos Art Show will be staged at the picnic. Winners will receive cash awards. All grades will participate. A dozen or more of the student entries will be used to create a 2013 calendar, which will be sold this Fall to benefit the Vallecitos PTO. The Plant Sale, featuring items donated by 19 local nurseries will begin at 9 a.m. All proceeds from the Plant Sale benefit Vallecitos School District. Last year’s picnic saw a turnout of over 300 — the best in years — thanks in large part to the inaugural Vallecitos Art Show. A strong turnout is hoped for again this year.

Please join us in helping make the "1st Annual Christmas in Rainbow" a wonderful and exciting event for our community. When local resident Mary Gore offered to donate a Christmas tree for the idea of an "Annual Tree Lighting", I was inspired to work with The Oaks and The Rainbow Oaks Flower Shop to create a beautiful holiday display and offer Rainbow residents a taste of the holiday spirit in the "town square".
We hope you'll come down for some neighborly fellowship as we "light the tree" (at 6:00pm) and share in some holiday cheer with one another.

16TH ANNUAL RAINBOW DAYS PICNIC
The 16th annual “Rainbow Days” Picnic, sponsored by RPOA and including every civic organization in Rainbow, will be held Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Rainbow Park on Fifth St.
A complete barbecue lunch will be offered at a deeply discounted price. Games for youths of all ages will be staged. An hour of live musical entertainment, featuringSinatra with a Z, starring Michael Sinatra with Franco Z, begins at 11:30 a.m.
Raffles featuring a wide array of prizes will be held every half hour. The grand raffle, offering a $100 bill, will occur at 1:45 p.m.
The Plant Sale, which provides funds for the Vallecitos School District, will open at 9 a.m., offering plants from local nurseries at bargain prices.
For the last 15 years, RPOA has sponsored the annual "Rainbow Days" Picnic, meant to celebrate the community and bring neighbors together.
Every civic organization in Rainbow participates -- Rainbow Valley Grange, Rainbow Fire Dept., Vallecitos School, Vallecitos PTO -- for a day of barbecue, games, raffles, music and the plant sale. Featuring bargain-priced plants from local nurseries, the plant sale raises money for the Vallecitos School.

Rainbow Valley Grange invites everyone to its annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner
Sunday, March 14 from 4 to 7 pm.
The dinner includes corned beef, cabbage, a salad bar, potatoes and carrots, Irish soda bread, drinks and a variety of dessert choices.
Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 10 and under. To go orders will be available.
