We have upgraded the camera in our owl box this year to automatically record video clips upon detection of motion. This has allowed capture of house hunting activity a couple of months before the start of egg laying season, during which the owl box is continuously occupied as the eggs are laid and incubated. Attached is a 19 second video clip with sound captured this evening, December 30, 2013, during a brief investigation of our owl box by a barn owl. It follows a similar investigation on Christmas eve, with no barn owl activity in between.
