RPG Meeting - RAINBOW ROAD CONDITIONS

Rainbow Road Conditions

At our meeting on Wednesday July 16, The Rainbow Community Planning Group voted to solicit input from the community (by way of your blog, if possible) regarding potentially troublesome intersections and areas of roadway in Rainbow.  This was done in response to an offer by the San Diego County Traffic Engineer to address poor visibility on our roads caused by shrub overgrowth.  The County is committed to mitigating the impact of overgrown shrubs in the public right of way immediately.  They will also contact property owners when overgrown shrubs on private property are obstructing visibility for motorists.  The following areas have been identified by our group as being particularly problematic:
1)      Intersection of Rice Canyon Road and Rainbow Heights Road—traffic heading Northbound on Rice Canyon cannot see traffic heading West (down hill) on Rainbow Heights Road.
2)      Intersection of Rainbow Valley Boulevard and 5th Street near Rainbow Realty Office—traffic heading southwest on Rainbow Valley Boulevard cannot see oncoming traffic heading into the intersection
3)      The intersection of Rainbow Valley Boulevard and West Rainbow Valley Boulevard near the Gas plant—visibility is impaired on both sides of the intersection due to weeds and other overgrowth.  Traffic heading South on Rainbow Valley Boulevard from Temecula is often traveling in excess of 50mph.  Cross traffic will pull in front of fast moving vehicles, due to poor visibility.
The group is also seeking additional input from the community regarding any other areas where road/traffic visibility is a problem for motorists.
Sincerely,
Gary Drake, Chairman
Rainbow Community Planning Group
