QUARRY NEIGHBOR WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH
I've lived near a gravel quarry before and it made me sick
Previously, I lived across town from a gravel quarry in Moorpark. I experienced ill health that I attribute directly to the quarry. I was getting bronchitis three times a year.
We moved to Temecula in 2008, my health returned to normal, and I was breathing easier every day. When I learned about the [proposed] gravel quarry, I already knew it's not healthy to live near one.
We will be powerless to do anything after the fact if Granite Construction, Inc. is permitted by the county to open the quarry in our back yards.
Every issue that has been argued-such as health and environmental effects, pollution, truck traffic, blasting, water use, home value depreciation-has a true and a false side. The quarry proponents have reasoned all of these issues in their favor and we citizens who oppose the quarry have argued the opposite.
The truth is, the facts are very easy to verify based on the real experience of other communities with quarries. Quarries make undesirable neighbors for many reasons. We want our peace, our quiet, our health and the health of our environment. We will only be able to keep the quarry from locating here if enough citizens who care stand up now to speak out. The final vote is coming soon. There are enough of us to save Temecula, Rainbow and Fallbrook if we take action now.

DONATIONS FOR MILITARY
Dear Friends,
As I have been working with the Family Readiness Offficer for the Combat Logistics Regiment 1 based out of Camp Pendeltion; it has come to my attention that approximately 250 of their Regiment are still deployed and will not be home for Christmas. When they can get to the PX lines are long and items are long and items in short supply or not available at all.
The PX available to them has limited supplies of the following items:
-Pens of all types, mostly black ink
-Highlighters/all types
-Writing/letter gear, i.e. envelops- note paper.
-Baby Wipes
-Powers/Body & Foot
-RAZORS...
-Shaving Cream
-Toothbrushes
-Deodorant
-Bar Soap
-Socks, Military Type- Black/Green/Tan
-Female Products- Wash, Tampons, Lotions etc. There are 3 Females- they would appreciate this.
-Multi Vitamins
-Protein Powders
-Beef Jerky
-Sun Flower Seeds
-Gum/Hard Candy
-Powered Flavor Coffee Creamer
-AA Batteries- for their NVGs/flashlights -AAA Batteries- for some of their flashlights
-Alarm Clocks (battery operated)
-Hand Sanitizer
-Plastic Ziplock Bags
-Lip Balm
-Used Magazines as reading material and/or books.
If you are interested in helping our servicemen and women please call me and I can make arrangements for pickup of what ever items you can collect or donate. You are also welcome to make arrangements to drop off the items at my home. The Regiment Personnel will make arrangements to send the items once we get them collected.
Please keep in mind smaller sizes are easier for us to pack and ship.
I am hoping to be able to send some of the items to them before Christmas but I can also send them after the Holidays as well.

‘Healthcare district issues thumbs down on Liberty Quarry project’
GREAT letter from Bobbe Wilder about recent decision by Fallbrook Healthcare Board!!

I read that the Fallbrook Healthcare District voted unanimously to send a letter to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors in opposition to Granite Construction’s proposed Liberty Quarry project.
I want to applaud and commend the district for its intelligent and wise decision because people’s health far outweighs the profits a mega corporation will make out of a giant mining operation. We cannot allow this potentially hazardous pit mine to be permitted, because the sad fact is we will only know the truly adverse affects on our health and communities after the mine is built.
At present, there is no aggregate shortage in Riverside County, and Granite already has another quarry, Rosemary’s Mountain nine miles south of Temecula in San Diego County. Granite []wants us to believe that the demand for aggregate will be so great that Liberty Quarry must be built. Ridiculous! Existing quarries can be re-permitted way into the future.
Granite has chosen the worst possible location for their pit mine. It will sit in the mountains surrounded by Fallbrook, Rainbow and Temecula, and right next to SDSU’s critically important reserve and field station.
Oh, they’ll try and keep the crystalline silica dust down (by law) but if they are fined for pollution, so what to them, they can pay those fines or buy clean credits from other companies that are not polluting.
Thank you again for your firm and important stance. You saw right through Granite’s PR machine and came to the right decision.
